Prairie Dock

Silphium terebinthinaceum

A cousin of Cup Plant, this equally imposing species has large, oval to heart-shaped basal leaves that resemble elephants ears. The tall flower stalks send up masses of bright yellow flowers.  Attracts much the same wildlife as Silphium perfoliatum.
