The leaves of this Violet are heart shaped, about as broad as long and downy hairy beneath. It has a five-petaled yellow flower and is an adaptable ground cover in most dry shady spots. V. pubescens is a good companion for many other woodland plants and spreads by rhizomes and by seed.
